Can red light therapy increase muscle recovery and muscle mass?
Elite athletes including NBA superstar Stephen Curry and olympic swimmer Michael Phelps use red light therapy, and a 2016 Harvard Medical School study helps explain why.
It found red light therapy can “can increase muscle mass gained after training, and decrease inflammation and oxidative stress in muscle biopsies” to the extent that the authors “raise the question of whether PBM should be permitted in athletic competition by international regulatory authorities”
This is huge. The authors are effectively comparing the muscle recovery and muscle building benefits of red light therapy to that of banned substances, that’s how much of an impact it can have.
I personally use my Hero Series panels before I hit the gym - which is more linked to red light therapy’s muscle building potential, and then again after I train to optimise recovery.
Whether you’re a health and fitness enthusiast or an athlete, adding red light therapy to your routine is a no-brainer.
